Wii Sports: Texture hacks

I’m creating a fully texture-hacked version of Wii Sports. View the recruitment video below. If you came from YouTube, welcome! Download the starter pack HERE. It contains both modded and default files, locations of objects within .carc files and a working XML to launch the patches (copy mods_wiisports to your SD card’s root, copy WiiSports.xml to your riivolution folder).

To sign up, comment or visit the development post at RVLution.net. Hit the jump (“Read More”) for examples of texture hacks and a video from MrBean showing his Yankee Stadium ballpark mod.

There’s a LOT more you can do to mod this game, every texture is changeable so you can create entirely new scenic environments. The models are viewable with BrawlBox which makes for some easy texture testing and probably means the models can be edited.

Can't you post the download of the mods you made? D:

Sorry, I completely forgot! I'll add them now.

I'm not satisfied with what I've made yet and haven't fully tested it, so I'm not releasing it properly until I'm done. But you can download what I'm working with atm here. That's my XML, folders with mods in them (use mods_wiisports on your SD card) and my customisation folder. When loading the XML the only thing that can be loaded (cuz i've not modded anything else) is baseball 'bat + ball' (mod 1 isn't broken, contrary to what it says) 'ballpark', and bowling 'awesome mode'. Awesome mode isn't tested but if it works it'll look really fucking cool. The download comes with all the default files too to make your own mods. If you do, check out CGTextures.com, I've just discovered them and they're really useful.

I don't know why, but at one point when I tried to load the ball + bat mod my Wii said their was something wrong with the Mii data, so if you get that error you'll need to re-patch whatever files need re-patching (that's why the XML says something's broken).

Awesome mode works. I'll perfect that then work on the ballpark. This will look so sweet when it's finished! Wanna help? I'm thinking about doing neon, army and glitzy themes, as well as just some basic colour changes, maybe incorporating other game textures.
