The guys at SMB Team have been developing a version of New Super Mario Bros. wii featuring the classic levels from SMB1 on the NES. You can check out their progress at their forums, and download what they’ve released so far here. If you have the June Pack, make these modifications to your XML (in the ‘riivolution’ folder).
They’ve also released character textures, developed by Splashman, to give Mario and Luigi that classic look. Check out the forum topic here, or download them directly here. If you want a custom XML for these files, please comment.

You can get the files and XML in the latest pack, which includes everything released on this site. ALternately, download this basic XML and put the files in a folder an the root of your SD card called 'nsmb'.

The Retro Luigi (NES) download doesn't seem to work. Every time I click the download it just refreshes the page, and it doesn't do that with any of the others (except for that download pack of many colored yoshis.
