ISO Exploring: Dead Rising CTYD


darkly77 Following in the footsteps of MnSG’s previous post, here’s my findings from exploring the Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop Wii title. Click here for my original text file containing everything I found, or click “Read More” for a web formatted version.


ROOT\: Opening.bnr: Channel info
2d\US(etc): ANA + CSL files (?). ANA files seem to contain BRRES files
2d\loading: Loading screens
2d\strap: Strap screens (multiple laguages & formats). Get new ones here.
chara\ch01\00: Frank (face w. different hair styles & tattoo)
chara\ch01\01: NPCs (torso)
chara\ch01\02: Shoes
chara\ch01\03: Headware, hats & hair
chara\ch01\04: ? (Colour blocks & hockey mask)
chara\ch02\00: LPK files: Zombies (see notes)
chara\ch01\01: LPK files: NPCs (includes their weapons)
chara\ch01\02: LPK files: NPCs (including Otis @ch020200)
chara\ch01\03: LPK files: Psychos (+more zombies?)
chara\ch01\04: LPK file: ch0204.lpk, contains multiple BRRES files. Extract using method in ‘notes’: once first info before “bres” is deleted, press F3 to find next instance, then Ctrl+Shift+Home, then Del to remove each BRRES file data in turn.

movie\subtitle: Subtitles in .bin format
omake\: *: Challenge/sniper mission information, in BSP/BRARG/BRLGC format. BRARG files may supply arguements, and contain text like ‘EnemyBase’ and ‘PsychoBase’, BSP/BRLGC files containt no indicative text.
sound: dead_sound.brsar: Contains info on audio stream lengths
sound\reverb: reverb.rvbt only
sound\stream: BGM and broadcast audio tracks (BRSTM files)
sound\table: BSRT files, contain text ‘Request’ and ‘Random’, MT_* files contain alphabet table at end of file
stage: st*: LPK archives containing stage graphics; BMS text; BRARG files. *_u.bms indicates US language, *_j is japanese, etc
text: *: BMS text files

NOTES
LPK files can be made into BRRES by opening them with a hex editor and deleting
everything up until ‘bres’ (skipping “.BRRES” if such text appears first). Presumably,
after modifying the BRREs file the header can be re-inserted into the file. To view
models in the BRRES use MDL0 Header Fix, go here then download “Model Importing Pack” by fortwaffle.
